Millions of families in Burma face financial ruin as
remittances from migrant workers dry up due to the flood devastation in Thailand, forcing Burmese migrant workers to return home or become jobless, according to a report by Radio Australia. About 10,000 factories have been shut, leaving many without work. The floods have spread across 64 of Thailand's 77 provinces in the past three months, killing more than 500 people. The human and economic cost of Thailand's worst floods in 50 years is continuing to rise. |
