At least three Burmese Army soldiers were killed on Wednesday at about 12 p.m. following an ambush by troops of the Kachin Independence Army in the unabated civil war in the country’s northern Kachin State, said eyewitnesses.

The Burmese soldiers were ambushed while they were inside a house in Sinlum Bum village on Manmaw (Bhamo)-Loije Road, connecting the China border in Manmaw district, said villagers who witnessed the KIA’s ambush.

The Burmese soldiers sheltered in the house were attacked with grenades and rifle fire by KIA troops under the 3rd Brigade, said witnesses.

All the dead soldiers were from Shwe Nyaung Pyin (Waingmaw)-based Light Infantry Battalion No. 321 and they were currently based in the Sinlum Bum frontline post, according to local people.
